Anna Rabhan
Lecture Topic - "Why go Veg?"
Anna Rabhan is a freelance writer, journalist, editor, educator and green living consultant who, locally, writes for Jacksonville Magazine and writes and edits for EU Jacksonville. She has also guest-posted on the website Practically Green.
Environmental issues have always been close to her heart, so when she moved to Jacksonville and had the opportunity to write about local, green, outdoors and environmental topics for EU Jacksonville, she says, "It felt like coming home in so many ways." In 2009, she began writing a regular column called The Organic Adventurer that focused more specifically on the benefits of a local food system, helpful ways to live lighter on the planet and save money, and other practical environmental tips and information.
She has been invited to speak on these topics at many area schools, colleges, events, and on a local morning news program. Throughout her work, she has come to understand why those who are concerned about the environment frequently don't take action: the daunting task of sorting through the huge amount of information that's out there. Motivated by her conviction that "going green" should be a fun adventure rather than hard work, she began to help people who want to green their lives but don't have the time or resources to figure out exactly how to do it.
Anna now blogs and runs a green living consultation business as The Organic Adventurer (www.theorganicadventurer.com).

Valerie Herman
Lecture Topic - "Regenerating a Food Forest: Why and How"
Valerie grew up in Florida and attended Sarah Lawrence College and F.I.T. Not long after graduation she moved to San Diego, California where she worked with David Wolfe and his nonprofit Fruit Tree Planting Foundation. The F.T.P.F. sponsored her to take a PDC (Permaculture Design Course) on the Big Island of HI in 2001. They say to be careful when you visit Hawaii, that 'your feet may get stuck in the sand'... and that they did!
Valerie stayed on Maui to live and work for the next 5 years on permaculture farms. From there a food forest in Bastimentos (a small island off the coast of Panama) was her next teacher. The well designed jungle garden furthered her knowledge of whole systems approach to design.
After traveling through Bolivia and Argentina she worked at traditional Organic farms in Oregon, New York, and Florida. Valerie now resides in her hometown, Jacksonville FL, where she and her partner have turned their 1/10th of an acre urban lot into an emerging food forest- with 40+ fruit trees, berries, vegetables, and herbs. It is her intention for it to be a model of how to regenerate the planet using the land right outside your front door. She started Jacksonville's Permaculture Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/PermacultureJax/) to find others with like minds and to share this amazing knowledge. Valerie currently works as a Permaculture Designer and helps people regain their health using a raw vegan lifestyle.

Lynette Pate
Lecture Topic - "Monsanto's Monster foods and the value of organics"
Organic Guru Lynnette Pate Author of : Fuel for the Body
Lynnette is a student of natural & holistic health care and nutrition. A ‘Patient Expert’, in which she was named by national speaker and chiropractor, Dr. Ramah Wagner. She studied under the direction of Dr. Debra Clarke; Acupuncture Therapist and Dr. Ramah Wagner.
She became well educated and enlightened and went on a mission after 2 near death experiences with her son. Coty had 27 surgeries with 7 different surgeons over the course of 15 years. It wasn’t until she was connected to a natural practicing doctor in Denver, Co. that she realized the impact food had on one’s body. Coty suffered from a disease called Respiratory Papillomatosis, aka the Human Papilloma Virus. Lynnette and her husband, Tommy, formed a 501(c)3 Foundation on behalf of her son, to help the families of other children get the appropriate care they needed: The Coty Pate Foundation for Respiratory Papillomatosis. (this foundation has been un active as the Pate's just prefer to raise awareness and keep kids alive) A happy note is that Coty is alive and thriving at age 23, and disease and surgery free for over 7 years. He also enjoys his dream of being a top chef. He graduated the Art Institute of Phoenix and recently ventured on a 6 month educational venue in France and now is one of the head chef's in a top resort in NJ.
Lynnette also suffered from her own kidney surgery at age 8 and on Rx drugs and OTC pills along with yearly emergency room and hospital visits throughout 25 years. It was during her visit and education from her son’s doctor in Colorado that she was able to see the difference and the truths of the food and drug industry. From the enlightenment she received in Denver, Lynnette buried herself in classes, seminars, lectures and books until she could grasp the way the body was meant to heal itself as well as cleaning up her toxins out of her environment. Therefore, she set out on a mission to enlighten the nation of the importance to take control of their health and weight. By growing up on Monsanto farming, Lynnette is fully aware of the havoc that toxic soils and plants can wreak on one’s body.
She is the author of a series of books in which the first book has been published and reached across the nation and 4 different countries: “Lose Weight…the Pate Weigh,” her second book: “Fuel for the Body,” and her third: “This Book is Intended to be Read…What the Food Industry and Government Have been Hiding from You" coming out April 01, 2013 and then "What Does GOD Have to Say About Nourishing Our Bodies"? coming out June of 2013.
Lynnette and her husband, Tommy have 2 beautiful daughters as well. Jordan, 21 and married with 3 beautiful children of her own. Haley, 19 and on her way to Drury University to study physical therapy. How they have grown into great adults.
Lynnette and Tommy ventured into becoming Foster Parents for abused and neglected children for a few years. This was only due to the inspiration of their children wanting to bring helpless children into their home to take care of them. They went through non-state funded organizations such as Agape of Memphis, TN.
She is currently involved in her community as coordinator of organic festivals, galas and a huge activist in the Liberty Coalition Group. Lynnette was also recently named as the Regional Ambassador for the American Anti Cancer Institute. See more about this amazing center at www.americanaci.org . She was also just selected as Ambassador for America’s Outstanding Mom www.americasoutstandingmom.com
You can follow Lynnette as she ventures on bicycle tours across the nation to enlighten the world one pedal at a time. Her tours are entitled: Fuel for the Body bike T.O.U.R. (Total Organic Understand Ride). The tour is to bring enlightenment and to raise awareness to the organic and healthy world, and to help the nation understand our food freedoms and how real food can keep us healthy.
She is also a huge activist for spreading God's message to the world. By following the word of God, one has the tools they need to live a life of longevity.

Adam Sugalski
Lecture Topic - "Brink of Extinction: The Asian Elephants Decline and Exploitation in Modern Society"
LES Board Member Adam Sugalski is a life-long activist for animals and the environment, starting as a student at St. Andrews High School in Boca Raton where he spearheaded a campus-wide recycling program and helped to found the Environmental club.
He holds a degree in Art and Photography, has taught in a college graphic design program, and has used his skills to do pro-bono design work for Earth First, Vegan Outreach, SHARK Online, Girls Gone Green, Rational Animal, Emply Cages and many more.
Under the umbrella of the Lotus Elephant Sanctuary, Adam runs Jaxprotest.com, a young, but highly visible and effective organization dedicated to ending the cruelty of animal circuses through public education. This organization keeps circus cruelty in the spotlight, and uses technology to mobilize citizens to action, whether through word-of-mouth dissemination of information, or by attending a peaceful demonstration. Soon he will be launching circusprotest.com. This site will provide the tools, knowledge and support to empower anyone to launch his or her own successful anti-circus campaign, and will exponentially increase the pressure on circuses to stop using animal performers.
